2nd Apr 04 - Hexham Abbey commended in National Lighting Awards

New exterior lighting scheme highlights Hexham

Hexham Abbey in Northumberland can now be seen in all its glory thanks to floodlighting commissioned by Hexham Town Council.  The £115,000 scheme has helped to highlight the beauty and grandeur of the Abbey which has been the spiritual focal point of historic Hexhamshire for centuries.

Designed by Michael Phillips of Lighting Design & Consultancy in Wolsingham the system has been installed by Hexham based lighting and building services specialists, Bartram Walker.  The scheme has attracted so much attention that it has been awarded ‘highly commended’ in prestigious national lighting awards organised by the Institute of Lighting Engineers.

Peter Watt, Contracts Manager at Bartram Walker said,

‘It is great to be involved with other local companies at the highest level in such prestigious national awards.  We at Bartram Walker are very proud to have installed Hexham Abbey’s new lighting scheme and we hope to continue working with our partners on other projects in the future.’

The Institute of Lighting Engineers’ awards ceremony will be held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London later in the year.
